The Patient Participation Group was set up in June 2011, it consists of 8 regular members. There has been a total of 3 Group meetings held in September, November and March.
The members have all been registered with GP since he started the Practice 20 years ago. We have 3 members of retirement age.
The Practice prints out leaflets a month before each proposed meeting and hand them to patients as they attend the Surgery, inviting them to the next meeting. Patients are also invited personally, by speaking to them and highlighting the importance of a PPG. A member of the PPG came into the Surgery to hand out the Surveys, help patients with completion of the Surveys and discussed the PPG with them, in the hope of attracting more members.
The Practice Nurse has played an integral role in trying to recruit young patients to the Group, by talking to young Mums when they bring their babies in for Immunisations.
Although the PPG is not representative of our registered patients it is felt that this will be rectified over the coming months with recruitment of new members, by the continued efforts of the Practice Staff and the PPG Members themselves. We have put posters in the waiting room advertising the PPG and it is to be included on our Practice Website.
